Description
DESCRIPTION:Pair of antique 18th century Chinese export armorial plates with underglaze blue and brown edge decoration and over painted rust red detailing. These are approximately 300 years old.
According to page 176 in the reference book CHINESE ARMORIAL PORCELAIN by Howard, these plates are from a service made for Captain Matthew Martin in about 1816. Additional information about him is available in the book.
These are guaranteed to be authentic antiques. They are NOT modern reproductions or fakes.

CONDITION:
In good antique preowned condition free from cracks. These plates have some typical and expected rim frits, or tiny chips and nicks to the brown trimmed edges. Some are underglaze and factory original, but most are post production.
There are some typical obvious factory original imperfections including glaze dimples, specs, and paint and color variations.
One plate has some stacking wear to the well of the plate.
MEASUREMENTS:
Approximately 8 3/4 inches in diameter.
