KM P1, one year type, the piefort striking of KM 57, in silver. Proof half dollar size silver coin. Coin and capsule only.
A piedfort is minted on a planchet that is twice as thick as the normal planchet for that design. It may be struck in the same metal as the regular coin, or it may be struck in a more precious metal (as this one is). KM 57 was minted in aluminum-bronze; this coin contains over an ounce of pure silver.
