    Description

    For your kind Consideration.
    Phieu Chi.
Credit Note - An Emergency Issue Combat Acquisition Document Credit Note.
This is a rare document issued by the NLF - National Liberation front.
A Credit Note issued by Viet Minh / Viet Cong forces for goods acquired from natives without payment, a form of IOU issued to villagers and merchants for goods acquired (more often than not by, or under threat of force.
These documents are the epitome of the 'Catch 22' Scenario. To refuse to give your goods and accept the document (thereby showing your lack of support of the communist forces) was no less dangerous than hanging onto it for future possible redemption and possibly having it found by allied forces (thereby proving your support of the communist forces).
The piece carries the value of goods taken, the date, the name of the combatant commandeering the good, list of items commandeered and the signature of two combatants procuring the goods, chickens, pigs, rice, household goods etc.
As such, these were seldom kept and are therefore extremely rare.
    Issued - 23rd of May 1962 - Note Number 226
Value of Goods Acquired - 4 DONG
I was very fortunate some years ago to collect a small cache of these Credit Notes issued by the National Liberation Front in Villages around Saigon, South to Vung Tau and east to the Cambodian Border.
At the time I had never seen before and I have yet to see another offering of these pieces since.
Whilst some from this cache are now held in collections elsewhere I have yet to see them re-offered for sale. I doubt once these are gone I will come across again.
    Exceptionally Rare piece.
