    Description

Offered is a vintage Dual CS-510-1 belt drive auto stop turntable that currently works well and is in very good cosmetic condition.  This model was considered to be a very good Dual offering with a spring mounted isolation platform. The platten surround is wrapped with a simulated wood
    vinyl
film.  Interestingly the anti-skate dial has settings for a quadraphonic CD4 stylus.  I don't know if the RCA cables are actually rated for the 55kHz operation CD4 recordings require but they are HOSA brand.   As received the turntable ran well (belt is still pliable) and so it just needed basic service and some minor cleaning.  The platter and motor bearings have been lubricated (Anderol 465) and other areas regreased where recommended.  The pitch control works well although at 45rpm it is a bit trickier to use the neon lamp illuminated speed markings than at 33rpm.  The 510 ran fine at both speeds.  It does not have the problematic SM840 motor but an SM860-1.  This particular Dual 510 version includes a platter latching clip which was not mentioned in the service manual I referred to.  It must be released if one wishes to remove the platter (e.g. to replace the belt).
The dust cover is free from cracks or chips and buffed up nicely.   There are still some light scratches here and there but you do have to look up close and with some care to see them.  The hinges work well and the feet are in good shape.  There are a few minor scratches on the black base of the plinth.  Overall this turntable is in very nice condition given its age.
Note: The three shipping lock down screws have been engaged and so you will need to unscrew them to release the spring mechanism for the isolation platform to work.
There is a Stanton 500 cartridge.  The stylus tracked well when it was tested at 1.0 gm.  I can't really assess the condition of the stylus (no microscope) but it sounded fine to my ear.  A replacement stylus, if needed, can be had for as little as .  The tone arm counter weight will be remove for shipping.  The tone arm will require rebalancing prior to use.
This item comes with a 30 day return; buyer pays return shipping.
